You can pay in cash via the automatic payment machine located at the entry to the departures hall. The machine accepts 10, 20, 50 cent, 1 and 2 euro coins. You can also pay at the airport's information centre situated in the passenger terminal, arrivals hall. If the amount exceeds 0.5 euro, you can pay for parking by card at the airport's information centre.

Can I go abroad with my ID card?

The State Border Guard Service specifies that passengers can travel with the ID card in the majority of European countries, except Turkey. Passengers, however, must have a passport and a visa, if necessary, to go to non-Schengen area countries, depending on the destination country. Usually, passengers have to get a valid visa issued before departure before going to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Israel.

What is the check-in procedure for passengers who bought their flight tickets online?

You should have received an electronic ticket to your e-mail when buying your tickets online. You have to print it out and bring it to the airport. The usual check-in procedure applies. If you only carry hand luggage, you can go straight to the passenger security screening point. If you carry checked baggage, you have to go to check-in desks.

When does passenger check-in start and close?

The check-in procedure at Palanga Airport starts two hours before the departure time stated in the ticket. The check-in closes 40 minutes before the departure time.

What amount of medicines can I take onboard?

You can take small amounts of prescription and over-the-counter medicines for personal use, such as painkillers, medication for fever, digestive disorders, malaria, contraceptive pills, etc., in your hand luggage. We recommend you to take a prescription or a medication passport for prescription medicines. Insulin is considered a vital liquid drug, thus, the 100 ml limitation for liquid allowed as hand luggage is not applied. You can have containers, including cosmetics, the volume of which does not exceed 100 ml in your hand luggage; all containers have to fit in one 1 l resealable plastic bag. Look for plastic bags at check-in desks at the airport's terminal or next to a passenger check post.

What size a 1 l resealable bag should be?

A 1 litre resealable plastic bag should not be bigger than 20 x 20 cm.

What substances are considered liquids?

Substances or products in the form of liquids, aerosols or gels, i.e. pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures, the contents of pressurised containers, e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, shampoo, drinks (water, juice, lemonade and other beverages), soups, mayonnaise, yoghurt, syrups, perfume, shaving foam and other similar products are considered liquids.

Can I carry food in hand luggage?

Solid foods can be carried in both hand luggage and checked baggage. All liquids (e.g. yoghurt, juice) carried in hand luggage must be in containers not exceeding 100 ml. All liquids must be placed into a single 1 l bag. All liquids (excluding medicines, baby food and liquids in safe disposable bags) which exceed 100 ml must be carried in checked baggage.

Can I take honey in hand luggage?

You can bring honey of any consistency in your hand luggage.

What amount of food/liquids for infants can be carried in hand luggage?

Legal acts do not provide for a specific amount of infant food which a passenger may carry in hand luggage. You can take as much food as it is required for the entire trip (the remaining part should be kept in checked baggage). Aviation security employees are entitled not to allow the carriage of excessive amount in case it is considered that there is more liquid food than required for the trip.

There are no restrictions for solid medicines (e.g. tablets, powder medicines) in your hand luggage. Liquid medicines can be carried in hand luggage in containers not exceeding 100 ml. You can take as many containers as you can fit into a 1 litre resealable plastic bag (you can put liquid cosmetics, contact lens solution, cough medications, etc. into it). You are allowed to carry liquid medicines exceeding 100 ml in your hand luggage when the medicines are required for your trip and are prescribed (a passenger must present a prescription indicating the name of medicine and the surname of the passenger to whom the medicine has been prescribed to an aviation security officer). You have to take out liquid medicines exceeding 100 ml from your hand luggage before security screening and show them to an aviation security officer.

What amount of liquid injection medicine can I carry in hand luggage?

Legal acts do not provide for a specific amount of injection medicine which a passenger can carry in hand luggage but aviation security staff will only allow such amount onboard which is required for the entire trip (the remaining medicine should be put into checked baggage). A passenger must evaluate how much medicine will be required during the trip and provide an aviation security officer with a logical explanation, e.g. a passenger is flying from Lithuania to London (an aviation security officer sees it in the boarding pass presented at the airport) but the passenger will further fly from London to Beijing; therefore, when carrying a larger amount of medicine the passenger must present a proof of a longer trip to the aviation security officer, i.e. a boarding pass for the flight London - Beijing, etc.

Can I bring weights in hand luggage?

It is not allowed to bring weights in hand luggage but you can carry them in your checked baggage.

Can I carry a knife in hand luggage?

You can carry a knife in your hand luggage if its blade is not longer than 6 cm, it unfolds easily (it does not open automatically) and it is not sharpened on both ends.

Can I bring tradesman's tools (screwdrivers, pincers, chisels, etc.) in hand luggage?

Tradesman's tools can be carried in hand luggage if their blade or shaft is not longer than 6 cm. You can bring tradesman's tools with any blade or shaft in checked baggage.

Can I carry lighters or matches in hand luggage?

You can carry a box of regular matches or a regular lighter on your person only (e.g. in your pocket, not your hand luggage or bag). You can bring a Zippo lighter on your person only if the fluid in it is absorbed, i.e. there is a wick in the lighter.

Can I bring lighter fluid and liquid gas cartridges?

It is forbidden to carry lighter fluid and liquid gas cartridges by air transport.

Can I carry toy guns (pistols, bows, slingshots, swords, etc.) in hand luggage?

It is not allowed to carry toy guns in hand luggage but you can bring them in checked baggage.

Can I carry an electric potato grater in my hand luggage?

Yes, you can, but only after you remove cutting blades from it.

Security screening

I have a metal implant in my body after the surgery. Do I need to have a doctor's note? How will aviation security staff do the screening procedure?

It is recommended to have a doctor's note but it is not required in Lithuania. If you cause a walk-through metal detector to alarm, tell the aviation security officer about the metal implant and indicate the place where you have it, and aviation security staff will check you manually. In any case, you may ask aviation security staff to check you in the thorough examination room in the absence of other passengers.

I have a pacemaker in my body. Can the security screening equipment (e.g. a walk-through metal detector) interfere with its function?

The manufacturers of walk-through metal detectors guarantee that their equipment does not interfere with the function of a pacemaker. Nevertheless, a passenger has a right to ask the aviation security officer not to be screened by a walk-through metal detector. Usually, in such a case a passenger is checked manually.

How will I be checked by aviation security staff if I have an artificial limb? Do I need a doctor's note?

Tell the aviation security staff that you have an artificial limb before the screening procedure. Depending on the type of your artificial limb (e.g. the amount of metal in it), the aviation security staff will either screen you by means of a walk-through metal detector and/or manually as well as a drug and explosive detector. It is recommended to have a doctor's note but it is not required in Lithuania. In any case, you may ask the aviation security staff to check you in the thorough examination room in the absence of other passengers.

Travel documents

What documents does a minor travelling with one parent or alone require to go abroad?

If a minor is travelling with one parent, only his or her personal identity document is required. A written parental consent of another parent is unnecessary. If the family name of the minor is different from the family name of the accompanying parent, the Border Inspection of the Republic of Lithuania may ask for the birth certificate of the minor. If a minor is going with a personal attendant, a minor is required to have a personal identity document as well as a written consent of one of the parents or a foster-parent on the child's travelling with a personal attendant and a copy of it. The authenticity of the signature in the consent has to be approved by a notary or an official of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania or the consular institution or a senior local government official. What should I do if I left my bank card in the ATM at the airport?
