A passenger may carry syringes with needles, insulin pens, an insulin pump or other diabetes equipment in their cabin baggage, when also carrying insulin. A passenger may carry liquid insulin in quantities larger than 100 ml in their cabin baggage and hold baggage. Diabetes equipment and insulin must be removed from cabin baggage beforehand and presented separately to the aviation security officer for inspection. We recommend that you pack all of these items in a transparent plastic bag and store them in your cabin baggage so that you can quickly remove these items and show them to the aviation security officer. Remove the insulin and syringes, and place them in the tray for X-ray screening (screening insulin with an X-ray device is safe, but the passenger also has the right to request a different kind of inspection).

A passenger carrying a non-removable insulin pump should warn the aviation security officer in advance that they have one. Aviation security officers will check the passenger and the insulin pump with aviation security equipment and manually.
