Summer is not over yet!

“Summer is over for those who...”. Our ending of this popular phrase would be quite simple. Summer is over for those who have no travel plans for autumn. In September we still see off groups of relaxed holidaymakers travelling from Lithuanian airports to warm countries or holiday destinations and we draw up our work schedules while we secretly envy them.

First of all, we are thinking about the winter season, which will start at the end of October, and about new routes that will be operated at the airports of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga. We are already planning work for the next summer when we will face one of the greatest challenges in our history: the reconstruction of the runway at Vilnius Airport. We will have only 35 working days to complete this task, so, 14 July-18 August will be stressful for us, as well as for our partners, who take care of completing the reconstruction work and its quality.

We work so you can relax and take your holiday flight in peace. September is particularly well-suited for this, so take advantage of sunny days and rest!

New routes
Ryanair: Vilnius–Berlin

From 3 September, a new flight route will take passengers from the capital city to Schönefeld Airport in Berlin three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Ryanair: Palanga–Glasgow

Starting with March of the next year, Ryanair will offer flights from Palanga to the largest city in Scotland, Glasgow, twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

September news in Lithuanian Airports:

  • Ukraine International Airlines: Vilnius–Lviv, from 16 September.
  • Wizz Air: Vilnius–Eindhoven, from 22 September.
Runway Reconstruction in Vilnius
Changes at Kaunas Airport

Next summer, when flights will be transferred from Vilnius to Kaunas, Kaunas will need additional infrastructure. It is planned that temporary passenger terminals, additional parking lots, etc. will be built in Kaunas.

The reconstruction price is EUR 25 million

This price was quoted after evaluating the price of necessary technical work of the project and the cost of such work to other European airports. The planned price will not be increased any more because public tenders for the purchase of works are over or are already in progress.

Updates on the runway reconstruction are available in a special section on the website of Vilnius Airport HERE .
