Special Assistance Service and How to Request It

 

 

The special assistance service includes:

passenger meeting at the airport premises upon arrival by plane, car, bus, or taxi;
passenger escort to the aircraft (to passenger and baggage check-in, customs, security screening, passport control, gates – passenger boarding);
passenger escort from the aircraft (passenger disembarkation from the aircraft, escort to customs screening, passport control, baggage claim);
passenger escort with baggage (as required) to the car, bus, or taxi.

You can request the special assistance service:

in advance when purchasing a flight ticket online (when entering passenger personal data, an additional box regarding the need for assistance must be checked). It is advisable to request assistance as early as possible – preferably at least 48 hours before the flight;
in advance when purchasing travel. The travel agency employee should be informed about the need for the service;
upon arrival at the airport at the special assistance call point (by lifting the phone receiver). Where to find it is described in the section "Notification of arrival at the airport".

Notification of arrival

Passengers who wish to use the free special assistance service, regardless of the booking method, must notify staff about their arrival at the airport in one of the following ways:

by calling+370 698 51534;
by approaching the flight check-in desk (no need to wait in the general queue);
by lifting the phone receiver at the assistance call point (more detailed information in the section Arrival at the Airport);
by sending an SMS message to +370 460 56400 (we recommend this method for passengers with hearing impairments, indicate in the message that you have already arrived and where you are located).

Important to know

during peak hours, priority is given to passengers who have requested the special assistance service in advance;
when traveling with a guide dog or a personal wheelchair, you must notify the airline or travel agency from which the flight ticket was purchased in advance about these items;
if you have requested special assistance and arrived at the destination airport, you should wait in your seat on the plane until staff arrives to meet you.

   

    

        

 

Arrival at the Airport

We recommend

  • when traveling by car, we recommend stopping and dropping off passengers with special needs at the short-term parking zone located at the departure terminal. A vehicle may park here free of charge for 15 minutes;
  • if you believe that dropping off a passenger with special needs will require more than 15 minutes, please complete this form no later than 48 hours before the flight;

Notification of arrival

Passengers who wish to use the free special assistance service, regardless of the booking method, must notify staff of their arrival at the airport in one of the following ways:

Services at the Airport

Special telephone in the terminal

A special telephone is installed in the terminal. Here passengers can announce their arrival / request assistance and wait for arriving personnel to help them. You will find this location in the departure hall.

Private screening room

Passengers with individual needs may request a private screening room at the security checkpoint.

Complimentary wheelchairs

Complimentary wheelchairs are available for use at the airport (located next to the baby stroller area). They can be found at the check-in desks.

After use, please leave wheelchairs at the boarding gates.

Complimentary Sunflower Lanyards

Complimentary Sunflower Lanyards, which indicate a hidden disability, are available at the airport. Please request one at the check-in desks or security screening boarding pass scanning stations. Airport staff are trained to recognise this accessory and are prepared to provide additional attention and time.

Specialized transport to aircraft

For boarding/disembarking passengers traveling with wheelchairs to/from the aircraft, an Aviramp Continental Remote, S/N 1806 ramp is used.

Accessible toilets

Accessible toilets for wheelchair users are available in both the departure and arrival terminals.

Wheelchairs

During departure, the passenger may use their wheelchair up to the aircraft door. After boarding the passenger onto the aircraft, the wheelchair is loaded into the baggage hold and its further transportation is the responsibility of the airline. At the arrival airport, the passenger has the right to receive their wheelchair at the aircraft door.

Please note that if your wheelchair was damaged or lost during the journey, the airport will provide you with a wheelchair for temporary use (contact the baggage search office).

Departure from the Airport

At the short-term parking zone located at the terminal, a passenger waiting area is designated. Assistance service staff, upon passenger request, will escort to this location.
